Junior engineer trapped in Gulbarga

BANGALORE: The Gulbarga Lokayukta police caught a junior engineer of the zilla panchayat sub-division while he was allegedly accepting Rs. 10,000 for giving a favourable inspection report.

According to a press note, Khaja Sadruddin demanded Rs. 20,000 from Tukaram M. Bhavidoddi as bribe to give a favourable report for release of grant from the government for construction of a building. Sarduddin said the amount included the share of Assistant Executive Engineer, Kavali.

On a complaint, the Lokayukta police trapped Sadruddin while he was allegedly receiving Rs. 10,000. The other official was found to have left for Bangalore. Sadruddin was arrested and a case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In another case, the Mandya police trapped Ramaiah, a surveyor, while he was allegedly accepting Rs. 500 for surveying the land at M. Shettyhalli village in Srirangapatna taluk.

According to a press release, Ramaiah demanded from Bore Gowda Rs. 500 for himself and Rs. 300 for the survey supervisor for surveying the land of Bore Gowda’s wife.

The Lokayukta police arrested Ramaiah while he was allegedly accepting the sum.

Inspector caught

The Shimoga Lokayukta police trapped a first division assistant (FDA) and a revenue inspector while they were allegedly receiving Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively for rectifying a name in a revenue record.

The FDA, Srikant, and revenue inspector, Hemappa, allegedly demanded money from Hucchirappa Talawar for rectifying his name in the “pahani” concerning his agricultural land.

On a complaint, the two officials were arrested and produced before the Shimoga Principal and Sessions judge, said the Lokayukta press release.
