PUDUCHERRY: The Steering and Monitoring Committee of Scheduled Caste Sub Plan comprising Dalit outfits in Puducherry on Friday accused the government of diverting funds earmarked for the Special Component Plan (SCP) to schemes in the “indivisible sector.” Addressing a press conference here, functionaries of the committee, including its president Neela. Gangadaran, urged the government to present a white paper on the utilisation of the SCP funds during the last seven years. The government should have earmarked 16.9 per cent of the budgetary allocations to the SCP in proportion to the population of Adi Dravidars in the Union Territory.
