New Delhi: India thrashed Sri Lanka 6-0 in the first match of the AFC under-16 championship football qualifiers at Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Friday night. Malaswamfela and Ralte Lalrindika found the net twice each while Bijender Rai and Mandeep scored a goal apiece to script a confident start for the Indians. Bijender opened the scoring in the very first minute of the match before Malaswamfela added one in the 31st. Lalrindka slotted home a third in the 37th minute to give the Indians a healthy half-time lead. Mandeep scored in the 46th minute to get the second half to a perfect start and Malaswamfela added the fifth in the 52nd. Lalrindka gave the finishing touches with a goal in the 74th minute. — PTI
