As many as 1821 houses sanctioned for Gurla mandal
VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Transport Kanna Lakshmi Narayana has said the State Government has launched ‘Indiramma’ programme to uplift the poor.
Participating as a chief guest in ‘Indiramma Gruha Pravesam’ programme at Peda Bantupalli village in Gurla mandal on Monday, Mr. Lakshmi Narayana said that Rajasekhara Reddy Government had been extending housing programme irrespective of the party affiliations to all.
He said the TDP which heckled the Congress on its promise for free power to farmers was now making similar promise with an eye on elections.
Rice scheme
The Government was committed to implement Rs.2-a-kg rice scheme for the benefit of the downtrodden, he added.
MP Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi, said the Government had sanctioned 1,821 houses under the programme for Gurla mandal of which 564 houses were grounded at Peda Bantupalli.
Of them 357 houses were completed and the remaining were in progress, the MP added.
Inaugurated
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated additional rooms constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.30 lakhs of primary school building in the village.
