‘Unceremonious’ removal of ZGS chairperson draws flak
MAHABUBNAGAR: Discontent is brewing among Congress party functionaries and workers in the district over the unceremonious removal of Sattur Ramulu Goud from the seat of Zilla Grandhalaya Samsta (ZGS) chairperson and installing a new entry into the party R. Ravinder Reddy in his place.
Sattur Ramulu Goud, a senior Congress leader of the district who is associated with the party since 40 years was appointed chairperson of Z.G.S. in August 2005, along with chairpersons of other districts in the State.
In the appointment orders it was stated that their tenure will last till further orders given by the Government. Accordingly all the chairpersons of ZGS are continuing in their posts except Sattur Ramulu Goud as he was replaced by R. Ravinder Reddy, a former sarpanch of Sanginenipally village in Koilkonda mandal.
This sparked a row within the cadres in the district. It is learnt that they expressed their disapproval with the District Congress Committee and MP D.Vittal Rao on the ground that R. Ravinder Reddy’s record as sarpanch was tainted. It is also learnt that a criminal case was filed against Ravinder Reddy in Koilkonda police under 409 of IPC for misappropriating Rice sanctioned under SGRY when he was sarpanch.
A warrant was also issued against him and the Collector V.Usha Rani ordered an inquiry. . Subsequently Rs. 3 lakhs were recovered from him and the case was withdrawn, it is learnt.
