New Rajya Sabha Secretary-General

NEW DELHI: Vivek Kumar Agnihotri, former Secretary in the Ministries of Panchayati Raj and Parliamentary Affairs, will be the new Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha for two years, it was announced on Monday.

His appointment was approved by the Vice-President Hamid Ansari, who is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, the House secretariat said.

Mr. Agnihotri, a retired IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, hadserved as Joint Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, and as Additional Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms.

He succeeds Yogendra Narain, who retired recently.
