PATNA: Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad will call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday to demand the arrest of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the wake of the Tehelka expose on the Gujarat riots. Mr. Prasad told journalists here on Monday that statements obtained in the sting operation should be used as confessions and legal action taken against those behind the carnage. A BJP MLA and Gujarat government’s counsel had allegedly admitted to Mr. Modi having participated in meetings at which the massacre had been planned, he said. “No two yardsticks”The Railway Minister said there should not be two yardsticks for judging people. “I would have been jailed by now had I was implicated instead of Mr. Modi. But in our country issues are dealt with in two separate ways.” The RJD president said that the whole world saw (during the telecast) the evidence provided by key people and there was little left but to lodge a case, arrest and prosecute those involved for murder. Mr. Prasad accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of having turned a blind eye to the issue by not ordering a statutory probe into the Godhra train fire when he was Railway Minister. The RJD chief charged Mr. Kumar with cheating the people, particularly the minorities.
