KOLKATA: Officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the death of the computer graphics teacher Rizwanur Rahman began questioning officials of the Kolkata police here on Monday, a senior police official said. Role of officialsSuspicions have been raised over the role of certain officials of the city police in the events leading to the death of Rahman, whose body was found lying by the side of the railway track near here on September 21. Rahman died only weeks after his marriage to Priyanka, daughter of an influential city businessman, against her family’s wishes. The couple had subsequently been summoned to the city police headquarters on three occasions. The intervention of the police in their relationship has raised questions of the involvement of certain officials in the case. 5 officers shiftedThe West Bengal government has already transferred five senior officials of the force, including the Commissioner of Police, following suspicions of their involvement in the events leading to the death. The CBI is likely to question some of those who have been transferred in the course of their investigations that began here on October 20. The agency was directed to start investigating the death by the Calcutta High Court on October 16 and asked to submit its report to the High Court within two months.
