MADURAI: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday stayed all further proceedings pursuant to a memo issued by the Madurai Kamaraj University Registrar seeking explanation from an Assistant Stores Manager who had levelled allegations of maladministration against Vice-Chancellor P. Maruthamuthu. Hearing a writ petition filed by the stores manager, Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar ordered notice of motion (a notice issued before admitting the case) to the Registrar and Vice-Chancellor returnable by four weeks and granted interim stay till then. The petitioner, V. Selvaraj, said that he was also the general secretary of the university’s administrative staff association. He claimed that the memo had been issued with an intention to threaten him for lodging written complaints against the Vice-Chancellor to the Chancellor, Superintendent of Police, Vigilance Commissioner and other officials.
