PUDUCHERRY: It was an exhibition of a different kind. It had models from a Tamil literature like the five kinds of land described in Sangam literature, the ’padhinaal kaal mandapam’ that was said to have existed in Kaveri Poompattinam and attributes of a leader and medicines prescribed in Kanimedhaviyar’s ‘yelaathi nool.’ As part of the inauguration of the Muthamizh Mandram on Tuesday, students of Tamil Department of the Bharathidasan Government College for Women organised the exhibition at their college. Charts on the evolution of the Tamil alphabet over the centuries, phonetics and pots full of different kinds of seeds were displayed. Tourism Secretary A. Anbarasu, who inaugurated the exhibition, said that in this globalised world with the importance given to earning wealth Tamil language and its unique culture must not be forgotten.
