Hyderabad
Venue to be Lahari Resorts on city outskirts near BHEL Bharath Reddy to monitor the pitch preparation
Inzamam
Razzaq HYDERABAD: Hyderabad’s tryst with Indian Cricket League (ICL) continues. It is not confined to just a few cricketers -- led by Ambati Rayudu -- signing it. But it will also host the preparatory camp for both Chennai and Hyderabad teams. Floodlit groundThe magnificent, floodlit cricket ground amidst the scenic beauty of the Lahari Resorts, on the outskirts of the city near BHEL, will come alive from November 14 for 23 days when the big guns of Pakistan cricket, including Inzamam-ul-Haq and Abdul Razzaq, will join the Hyderabad and Chennai teams in the preparatory camp ahead of the ICL commencing from November 30 near Chandigarh. The pitch preparation is under way with former India stumper Bharath Reddy personally monitoring the work to ensure that the best practice facilities are provided for the players among whom figure the Hyderabadis, including Ambati Rayudu, Anirudh Singh, D.Vinay Kumar and others. Essentially, the camp will be for 10 days. Originally, it was only for the Hyderabad team, in all probability to be led by Inzamam, Pakistan’s second most successful batsman in Test cricket after Javed Miandad. But since heavy rains have been lashing Chennai, the team from that city will also practice with the hosts. For his part, Sanjay Gaddipati, president of Lahari Greenpark, says it is an honour to be associated with the ICL. “I believe this ICL presents a huge opportunity for the youngsters to be much better players by rubbing their shoulders with greats like Inzamam and Brian Lara,” he remarked in a chat with The Hindu. “We are privileged to host this camp and will take every step to make it a huge success for the players,” he added. Significantly, the lush green outfield can well put to shade the more regular cricket grounds in the city. “We are into promoting sports – not just cricket but even football and indoor games – in a big way very soon. This is just be the beginning at this level,” pointed out Sanjay. With former West Indian great Desmond Haynes likely to coach one of the two teams here during the preparatory camp, the excitement can easily be discernible at the picturesque venue.
