Chitradurga: The State unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to dissolve the Legislative Assembly so that mid-term elections can be held. Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, he alleged that leading parties such as the Janata Dal (Secular), the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress were playing opportunistic politics. “It was shocking that the Janata Dal (S), after levelling several charges against the BJP, was again trying to form a Government with its help. On the other hand, the BJP, which had begun its so-called ‘Dharma Yatra’ after being refused power by the Janata Dal (S), was willing to team up with the Janata Dal (S) again,” he said. Mid-term elections were the only way out of this imbroglio, he said. CondemnedMr. Gopal strongly condemned the yatras being initiated by major political parties in the State after the power-transfer stalemate. He expressed the hope that his party would gain at least 50 seats in the event of mid-term elections. He said the former Janata Dal (S) leader P.G.R. Sindhia was expected to join the BSP soon. Trishulpani Patel, son of the former Chief Minster late J.H. Patel, had already joined the BSP, he said. RallyMr. Gopal said that to strengthen the base of the party in Karnataka, the BSP would hold a rally on December 23 in Bangalore, which would be addressed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati. State general secretary M. Jayanna was present.
