Questionnaire on paddy Bill

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Select Committee of the Assembly on Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Bill has published a questionnaire for members of the public to submit opinions and suggestions to the committee.

The questionnaire is available on the web site of the Assembly at www.niyamasabha.org and also from the collectorates, village offices, panchayat offices and krishi bhavans.

The 20 questions in the document seeks answers to the problems gripping paddy cultivation in the State, filling up of paddy fields and the steps needed for revival of paddy cultivation. Opinions have also been sought on mining of clay and adequacy of the provisions in the Bill to protect paddy fields, wetlands and hills.

The committee is scheduled to hold public hearings on the Bill at Kollam on November 23.
