Power for poor

SIRSI: About 1.70 lakh people in five districts coming under Hubli Electricity Supply Company will be supplied electricity under Rajiv Gandhi Vidyutshakti Yojana and 500 people identified in Uttar Kannada district below the poverty line (BPL) would be given the facility soon, said S Shankarnarayan, Managing director of HESCM.

He was inaugurating a workshop on “Electricity — Rights and Duties” held under the aegis of Consumers Forum and HESCOM, Yellapur at village Manchikeri near here on Tuesday. — Staff Correspondent
