BANGALORE: Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary, MP, on Tuesday appealed to Governor Rameshwar Thakur to recommend dissolution of the Legislative Assembly as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) had lost moral right to rule the State. Mr. Poojary lashed out at leaders of the BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) and said the two parties had committed a fraud on the Constitution and misled the Governor by parading the legislators to the Raj Bhavan on Monday. The two parties were responsible for the collapse of the Kumarswamy Government and imposition of the President rule. He told presspersons that the Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP, who traded charges each other after the collapse of the Government, were now trying one more experiment to secure power which he termed as unethical. The former Union Minister lauded the work initiated by the Governor and said President’s rule was better than the popular Government headed by the BJP, which was whipping up communal sentiments throughout the State to gain political power. The BJP indulged in “blackmail politics” by threatening to launch a State-wide agitation if the Governor failed to ask the former Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to form the next Government. The electorate would teach a lesson to the Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP in the coming elections, he said. The former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, who was known for political gimmicks, was interested only in the prosperity of his family. The Kumaraswamy Ministry had not laid a single road and the Shiradi Ghat section was a good example, Mr. Poojary said. Stating that there were differences within the Congress on the formation of the Government, Mr. Poojary said the party was in favour of mid-term elections. The Congress had been opposing alliance with the Janata Dal (S) after withdrawal of support by the latter to the Dharam Singh Government last year. The Congress had not asked the former Minister M.P. Prakash to take the initiative in forming the next Government, he said.
