Deer dies in Bannerghatta

BANGALORE: A five-year-old spotted deer, which was being evacuated following the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in the Bannerghatta zoo, died in the rescue centre there on Sunday.

According to Assistant Veterinary Officer of Bannerghatta Biological Park G.K. Vishwanath, the spotted deer was injured in the lower jaw while it was being shifted out from its enclosure on Saturday.

The death was not a result of the disease, he said.
