Plan to promote tourism in Kolli Hills

NAMAKKAL: The district administration is preparing proposals to seek Rs. 5 crore from the Union government to carry out various tourism development works in Kolli Hills, Collector G. Sundaramurthi has said. He told presspersons that all amenities required to promote tourism in the hills would be included in the proposals.

After getting funds from the Government, the administration would create gardens near the Vasalurpatti Lake, and provide more lighting and other facilities for tourists. He said that the district supply officials and food cell personnel seized 90 tonnes of rice meant for supply under the public distribution system and arrested 12 persons for allegedly smuggling the rice in the last three months. The value of rice was estimated at Rs. 13.01 lakh.
