Haryana to have audio-visual gallery on Mahabharata

CHANDIGARH: An audio-visual gallery on the immortal epic “Mahabharata” will be set up soon in the Sri Krishna Museum at Kurukshetra at a cost of Rs. five crores, Haryana Governor A.R.Kidwai announced on Tuesday after chairing the meeting of the Kurukshetra Development Board here.

Dr.Kidwai asked the Haryana Tourism to take up the making of the documentary on Kurukshetra with the Ministry of Tourism and the Film Division of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

He also directed the Haryna Tourism Department to request the Union Ministry of Culture and Tourism for erecting a statue of Vishvaroopa of Lord Krishna at Kurukshetra.

Expedite work: Hooda

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda directed the Engineer-in-Chief, Haryana PWD (B and R) to expedite the air- conditioning of Sri Krishna Museum and to explore the feasibility of construction of railway over- bridge on the railway crossing near Sunderpur for direct approach from GT Road to Brahma Sarovar.

Haryana Tourism Managing Director disclosed that the parking and toilet block in the vicinity of Brahma Sarovar would be completed before the Geeta Jayanti celebrations in December 2007.

The Board approved the budget proposal of Rs. Five crores for the development of Kurukshetra and its Tirthas. It would also take over the Jayanti Archaeological Museum at Jind and transfer the Gulzari Lal Nanda Memorial to the Kurukshetra University for its proper maintenance.

Finance Minister Birender Singh, Chief SecretaryPromilla Issar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister M.L.Tayal, Secretary to Governor Alok Nigam, Vice- Chancellor of Kurukshetra University R.P.Hooda and Thanesar MLA Ramesh Gupta also attended the meeting.
