Gunjal was expelled from BJP in the wake of Gujjar stir "State Govt. played with my life in the past as well" JAIPUR: Gujjar leader and rebel BJP MLA Prahlad Gunjal has charged the State Government with mala fide intention in withdrawing the police security to him and his family. Mr.Gunjal, expelled from the party in the wake of the Gujjar agitation for Scheduled Tribe status for his open support to the cause, has written to the President of India, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and Lok Sabha Speaker besides Rajasthan Home Minister, seeking protection. In a statement here on Tuesday, Mr.Gunjal, MLA from Ramganj Mandi in Kota district, said the State administration had “played with his life” in the past as well when he sat on a fast unto death on October 2, on the occasion of the “jail bharo”(fill the jails) agitation by the Gujjar community. “Even when my blood pressure was precariously low after the fast, I was shifted from Kota jail by road to Jaisalmer. When my condition deteriorated on way near Jodhpur, instead on admitting me to a hospital I was sent to jail against the advise of the doctors,” Mr.Gunjal charged. He said he gave up the indefinite fast fearing for his life as he overheard someone saying, “let him die”. “Even during the British, Mahatma Gandhi who went on fast on several occasions was treated with all sensitivity. The State Government has crossed all limits of inhuman behaviour,” Mr.Gunjal charged.
