Nearly 6,000 Kannadigas from all over the world expected to take part in it ‘Globalman Award’ to be presented for service to Kannada SHIMOGA: The Vishwa Kannada Samskruti Sammelan 2007 would be held in Kuwait from November 30 to December 1 under the auspices of the Kuwait Kannada Koota. Honorary president of the cultural committee K.A. Ashok Pai told presspersons here on Tuesday that nearly 6,000 Kannadigas from all over the world would participate in the meet. He said that it was the fourth sammelan being held. The last one was held at Bahrain. He said that an organising committee, headed by Sudhakara Shetty, had been set up to oversee the preparations. He said that representatives of Kannada organisations all over the world would participate in it. President of the cultural committee K.P. Manjunath Sagar said that several persons would be honoured with the “Globalman Award 2007” in recognition of their contribution to Kannada and Karnataka. Recognition

Nagaraj (Canada) for journalism, Rajkumar (Bahrain) for social service, Sarvottam Shetty (Abu Dhabi) for social service, S.S. Alur (Qatar) for civil engineering, Bhuvaneshwari Nagaraj (Qatar) for music, A. Sadanand Shetty (Mangalore) for education, R.P. Ravishankar (Bangalore) for service in the cooperative sector, S.G. Umrani (Bangalore) for social service, Narendra Rai (Haryana) for banking service, Kamaleshwari Ramesh (Bangalore) for social service, Mahadev P. Varsha (Bangalore) for personality development and Nandini Shirahatti (Kadur) for education. He said that several artistes and troupes would present cultural programmes during the sammelan. He said that the sammelan would adopt resolutions concerning Kannada and culture.
