NEW DELHI: Harjinder Singh struck twice as Government High School (Jalandhar) defeated Malwa Khalsa School (Ludhiana) 3-0 on way to the final of the 25th Nehru sub-junior hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Tuesday.
Before Harjinder scored in the second half, Satbir had put the Jalandhar boys ahead in the 23rd minute.
In the second semifinal, Birsa Munda Vidyapeeth (Rourkela) overcame Springdales School (Amritsar) 3-2 in the tiebreaker following a goalless regulation period.
James Munda, Arbin Barla and Joseph Toppo scored for the winning team while Amonmirnus Tirkey and Bipin Kerketta missed. For the Amritsar boys, Mandeep Singh and Rupinder Singh were on target before Harmeet Singh, Gurjant Singh and Ramandeep Singh faltered. — Special Correspondent
