I-T staff strike total
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The functioning of the Income Tax Department was paralysed on Tuesday as gazetted officers and other employees joined the one-day nationwide strike urging implementation of various demands.
According to Income Tax Gazetted Officers’ Association (Karnataka and Goa) General Secretary, K.R. Narayana, the strike was complete and peaceful. All employees, except the Indian Revenue Service officers, joined the strike, he said.
As a result, business establishments, who get their transaction audited, could not file the returns. Wednesday is the last day for filing the returns.
Meanwhile, a few State Government employees also took part in the strike on the call given by the Confederation of Central Government and State Government Employees’ Associations.
