Institute gets editing suite

Sound sense: Actor Mammootty inaugurates the editing suite at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on Tuesday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Movie actor Mammootty inaugurated an editing suite set up by the Institute of Journalism under the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club, on Tuesday. The facility was established at a cost of Rs.20 lakh with assistance from the Local Area Development fund of Abdul Wahab MP. In his address, Mr. Mammootty hoped the institute would produce a new generation of students committed to keeping the Fourth Estate free of the canker of corruption.

Press Club president Sreekantan, Mr. Abdul Wahab, V.Sivankutty, MLA, director of the Institute of Journalism, N.R.S.Babu, Press Club Secretary, Prasannan, Treasurer Biju and students and faculty of the institute were present. The suite is equipped with facilities for recording and dubbing. It will be used to provide hands-on experience for students of the electronic journalism course.
