Robbery as a motive has not been ruled out by police
NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old jeweller was stabbed to death by two young men following an altercation at Karol Bagh here on Tuesday. One of the accused has been arrested.
According to the police, two young men on a motorcycle reached “Vaibhav Jewellers”, a precious stones and silver jewels shop on Padam Singh Road, around 6 in the evening and had a minor altercation with the shop owner Abhay Sharma.
Soon the altercation turned violent and one of the accused stabbed the jeweller injuring him seriously.
A police head constable on routine patrolling in the area heard the jewellers’ screams and rushed to the spot. He managed to catch one of the accused with the help of some passers-by.
The accused was later identified as 22-year-old Rakesh. His accomplice managed to flee taking advantage of the chaos following the incident.
Hospital
Mr. Sharma was rushed to nearby Jassa Ram Hospital where he was declared brought dead. He is survived by his wife and two children.
The police said the accused was being interrogated to know their motive behind the murder.
