Tiger skin recovered

Coimbatore: The special teams of forest officials from Sirumugai in Coimbatore and Bhavanisagar in Erode district have arrested a person and recovered a tiger skin from him on Tuesday.

A joint team led by Forest Range Officers, A. Selviah Vijayakumar and Mohan, raided the thatched hut of Kumaran in Pethikuttai (who was rearing cattle in a hamlet in the reserve forests).

The raids led to the seizure of a 6.5 ft long and 3.5 ft wide tiger skin and two tooth of a male tiger aged about 20 years. It is learnt that the accused poisoned the tiger to death agitated over its frequent killing of his cattle.
