Pensioners thank government

The Tamil Nadu Senior Citizens and Pensioners Welfare Association has expressed its gratitude to the State government for announcing that old age pension would be sanctioned to all eligible senior citizens (60 years and above) below the poverty line. Association State general secretary S. M. Chellaswamy appealed to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to increase the State government’s contribution to the old age pension from Rs.200 to Rs.400 per month and pay Rs. 800 per month to pensioners.
