HYDERABAD: S.S.P. Yadav, an IPS officer of the 1972 batch has been appointed Director-General of Police. He will succeed M.A. Basith, who will retire on attaining the age of superannuation on October 31. Mr. Yadav was a surprise choice since he was not considered to be in the reckoning for the top slot in the police department. He is currently serving as Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The Government has also reshuffled the top brass of the police department by transferring 11 senior IPS officers.
According to orders issued on Tuesday, Mr. R. R. Girish Kumar will take over as DG of ACB in place of Mr. Yadav. Mr. S.K. Jayachandra, presently Director General of Prisons, has been transferred and posted as DG, Vigilance & Enforcement. Mr. P. G. Kumar, now Chairman, State-Level Police Recruitment Board, has been transferred and posted as DG & IG Prisons, and M. Ratan, presently Additional DGP, CID, has been posted as DG, Police Recruitment Board. The new postings of other officers are: Ambati Sivanarayana, Additional DG, CID, M. Alagar, Addl. DG, Andhra Pradesh Special Police Battalions, K.R. Nandan, DG, Special Protection Force, Aruna Bahuguna, DG, Fire Services, Abdul Khayyum Khan, Addl. DG, Administration, B. Prasada Rao, Addl. DG, Law & Order and Vivek Dube, Addl. DG, Provisioning & Logistics.
