Special Correspondent

BHUBANESWAR: The State government on Tuesday appointed Vigilance Director Gopal Chandra Nanda as the new Director-General of Police of the State replacing Amarananda Pattanayak.

Mr. Pattanayak proceeded on leave immediately after the government appointed Mr. Nanda as DGP.

His application for one month’s leave had been allowed, sources in the Chief Minister’s Office said.

Mr. Nanda, a 1974 batch IPS officer, was holding the rank of Director-cum-Director-General and Inspector General of Police (vigilance) before his new appointment.

Simultaneously, the government posted Anup Kumar Patnaik, Additional DG of Police (vigilance), as Director-cum-Additional DG (vigilance).

M. Akshay, Inspector-General of Police (finance), was posted as Inspector General of Police (vigilance) against an existing vacancy.
