Antony to present Mar Gregorios Award

PATHANAMTHITTA: Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony will present this year’s Mar Gregorios Award to Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar Senior Metropolitan Philipose Mar Chrysostum at a function to be held at Parumala on Saturday.

The award, comprising a cash component worth Rs.10,001 and a citation, is being instituted in the name of St. Gregorios of Parumala by the Mar Gregorios Study Forum. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Forum chairman Thomas Mar Athanasius said the Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan Baselios Mar Thoma Didymos I would preside over the award presentation ceremony to be held at St. Paul’s and St. Peter’s Church on the banks of the Pampa at Parumala at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Catholicos-designate Paulose Mar Milithios will deliver the benedictory speech and Education Minister M.A. Baby will release the souvenir on the occasion.

Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas, Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Metropolitans Geevarghese Mar Osthathios, Mathews Mar Epiphanius, Paulose Mar Pachomios, Kuriakose Mar Cleemis will address the meeting.

C.S. Sujatha and P.J. Kurien, both MPs; M. Murali, MLA, and Acharya Narendra Bhooshan, Vedic Mission leader, will also address the gathering.
