Major projects okayed for NCR

New ventures to be taken up in Haryana, U.P. and Rajasthan districts


Four districts in Haryana and one each in U.P. and Rajasthan identified

National Capital Region Planning Board sanctions loans worth Rs.674 crore


NEW DELHI: The National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) on Wednesday sanctioned loans totalling nearly Rs.674 crore for half-a-dozen infrastructure projects to be taken up in four districts of Haryana and one each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The Project Sanctioning and Monitoring Group of NCRPB cleared a loan of Rs.93.42 crore for nine water supply projects in Rohtak, Rewari, Jhajjar and Sonepat in Haryana. The total investment in the project would be Rs.124.57 crore. After the completion of the project, water supply in these areas would be augmented from 70 litres per capita per day (lpcd) to 110-135 lpcd and would cover the entire population in these areas.

Another Rs.48.78 crore for seven sanitation and sewerage projects in Rohtak, Rewari and Jhajjar districts has also been sanctioned by NCRPB. The project, with a total investment of Rs.65.04 crore, would provide sewerage facility, along with a sewerage treatment plant, to the entire population of the semi-urban and urban areas in the three districts.

Another Rs.43.26 crore has been cleared by the Planning Board for three rail over-bridges in Rohtak. The total project cost would be Rs.90.05 crore.

To improve the condition of six State roads in Haryana, the Board has sanctioned Rs.194.59 crore.

The Board has also cleared Rs.133.80 crore for Anand Vihar residential housing scheme on the Hapur-Pilkhua stretch in Uttar Pradesh.

Rs.160 crore has been sanctioned for the Kota Thermal Power Station, Unit-7, which will have an installed capacity of 195 MW.

The total Plan outlay for this project in the “counter-magnet” city of Kota (Rajasthan) is Rs.880 crore.

According to an NCRPB spokesperson, the financial assistance is in addition to grants and other funds available under various Central and State schemes and private investment in the sector.

The NCRPB so far has financed 178 urban infrastructure development projects involving a Plan outlay of Rs.11, 534 crore.

While 109 of the 178 projects have been completed, 69 are at various stages of completion, the spokesperson said.
