TIRUPUR: G. Thiruvasagam, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University, on Sunday stressed that extensive application of science and technology in all spheres of development would lead to national prosperity.
Speaking at the 11th graduation day of Park College here, he said providing adequate food, health, environment and economic security on a sustainable basis to the present and future generations was the greatest challenge before the country. Unless achieving a minimum of 10 per cent annual economic growth on sustainable basis, any hope of improving the quality of life in India in next two decades would not succeed.
He said that there was a tremendous increase in the demand for quality higher education in the new knowledge economy due to a plethora of factors including competition among traditional institutions, concept of online and distance education system and privatisation of education. P.V. Ravi, chairman of Park Group of Institutions, presided over the function.
A total of 371 studentsreceived degree certificates.
