Wakf Board chairman taken into custody

KURNOOL: Wakf Board Chairman Diamond Salam was taken into custody by the Two Town police here on Wednesday for locking the Wakf complex office a few days ago.

Mr. Salam and his supporters locked the office of the Mohammadiya Wakf complex, as the staff of the office did not cooperate with them for an inspection.

Wakf Board Inspector Syed Basha lodged a complaint with the police stating Mr. Salam had prevented them from discharging the duties.

‘Independent body’

He further stated that the complex did not fall under the jurisdiction of Wakf Board but was under an independent governing body.

The police acted on Wednesday by taking the Wakf Board chairman Mr. Salam intos custody.

Charges were framed against four directors also.
