dated November 1, 1957: Centre’s proposal

Inaugurating the conference of Housing Ministers of various States assembled in Mysore on October 31, His Highness Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, Governor, observed that a clean and healthy house was an important element in the constitution of a happy home. He added: “If we make our nation an aggregate of happy homes we shall have gone far on the road to contentment and happiness and improved the outlook of our people as citizens of the world.” Mr. K.C. Reddy, Union Minister for Works, Housing and Supply, who presided over the conference, pointed out that proper housing must engage the attention of the Government and the public alike.
