BJP will not disrupt session: Advani

Kanpur: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday said it would not stall the proceedings of the forthcoming winter session of Parliament as it was keen on the House discussing the India-United States civil nuclear deal.

“The BJP wants a detailed discussion on the nuclear deal during the session so that people could know how such an important international deal was being executed and on what conditions,” leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani told reporters here.

The BJP wants the UPA to debate the nuclear deal in detail in Parliament and also the presentation of Parliament’s view on the issue in the end, Mr. Advani said after attending a children’s programme here.

Create awareness

The government is not constitutionally bound to accept the opinion of Parliament on the deal but a debate on it is important to create awareness about how the government was going about it, the BJP leader said. — PTI
