NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday summoned the Director-General of Heath Services to explain alleged denial of admissions to patients by the Capital’s Safdarjung Hospital referred to it by the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences on grounds of shortage of beds.
A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice M. K. Sharma and Justice Sanjiv Khanna directed the DGHS to hold a meeting with the two hospitals’ authorities on the issue and file a report on November 28, the next date of hearing.
The court summoned the DGHS while hearing a suo motu petition on the death of three persons, including two children, suffering from burn injuries outside the burns ward of Safdarjung Hospital earlier this month after being refused treatment by the hospital authorities on the grounds of lack of beds.
