Rice seizure: agencies clueless

PUDUCHERRY: Even three days after the seizure of rice at the railway station, the Civil Supplies Department and the Food Cell wing of the territorial police are clueless about whether the rice was purchased from the open market or diverted from PDS outlets.

Deputy Director of Civil Supplies Vallavan said on Wednesday that the case was handed over to the Food Cell. Superintendent of Police (Food Cell) N. Ramachandran said that the testing would take some more time.

Meanwhile, the Railway authorities had written to the Civil Supplies Department on Tuesday to speed up the inquiry.
