Muslim quota: hearing of plea against State tomorrow

HYDERABAD: The hearing of petitions filed challenging the action of the State government in providing reservations for a large section of Muslim community in the fields of education and public employment has been adjourned to Friday.

The Bench comprising Chief Justice G. S. Singhvi, Justice Bilal Nazki , Justice T. Meena Kumari, Justice B. Prakasha Rao and Justice D. S. R. Varma heard the senior counsel K. Rama Krishna Reddy appearing for one of the petitioners on Wednesday. The judges wanted to know the reason for imposing a stay on operation of the Act passed by the legislature.

Interim orders

During the course of arguments, the Bench wanted to peruse the interim orders passed by the Supreme Court in the case pertaining to reservations being provided in higher educational institutions. The case is adjourned to November 2 for producing the interim orders of the Supreme Court.
