Rajiv Rahadari to become 4-lane road

To be developed through public and private participation

Tenders to be called soon to execute works


KARIMNAGAR: The Rajiv Rahadari state highway, the lifeline of Karimnagar district, would be converted into a four-lane road from Ramagundam to Hyderabad via Karimnagar town through public and private participation (PPP) at a cost of Rs. 600 crore, Minister for Roads and Buildings T Jeevan Reddy said here on Thursday. Speaking after unfurling the national flag at the police parade grounds on the occasion of AP Formation Day in Karimnagar town, the Minister said that they had already given administrative sanction for the four-lane road and tenders would be called at the earliest to execute the works. He also said that a passenger train service would be introduced between newly laid railway line from Karimnagar to Jagtial town. Presently, the passenger train was being operated from Peddapalli to Karimnagar town.

Highlighting the achievements of State Government, he said that the Staten was according top priority for the development of the district, educationally by sanctioning a JNTU engineering college near Jagtial town, Veterinary polytechnic in Karimnagar town and agricultural research station at Kunaram in Kalwa Srirampur mandal.

Talking about the ambitious Jalayagnam programme, he said that the works on the Sripada Yellampalli, SRSP flood flow canal, Mid Manair dam were fast progressing to provide irrigation sources to the upland regions of the district. He said that about 12 entrepreneurs have established their units at Textile park on the outskirts of Sircilla town.
