BHUBANESWAR: After going into hibernation for a decade, the high-level advisory council for culture and heritage conservation was revived by the State Government on Tuesday to evaluate the activities of the Orissa State Museum, State Archaeology and State Archives. The Committee would also have a say in utilization of the funds of Rs.50 crores received from the 12th Finance Commission for development of tourism and culture in the State. The newly constituted committee comprises the Culture Minister as its chairperson while the Commissioner of Culture will be the vice-president. The other members include Vice-Chancellors of the Utkal University of Culture and Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University of Puri, Directors of the National Archives and Indian Museum of Kolkata, Superintendents of the Archaeological Survey of India in Bhubaneswar, State Archaeology, State Museum and State Archives. Besides, a few prominent personalities from the field of culture and heritage have also been included in the Committee, the Culture Directorate sources revealed. The Council that met here on Tuesday reviewed the ongoing programmes of the museum, State Archive and State Archaeology Department. It suggested addition of exclusive galleries on agriculture, the cult of Jagannath and one for the children. It also advised for launching of mobile museum for the people in far off places of the State.
