‘Swara-Laya Yatra’ on five Sundays

MANGALORE: Sangeet Bharati Foundation is organising a series of concerts — “Swara-Laya Yatra” — on five Sundays from November 11 to December 16.

Narendra L. Nayak, chairman, Expert Educational and Charitable Foundation, told presspersons here that the inaugural event of the series on November 11 would feature “Bhairav-Kalian Utsav” from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Town Hall, he said.

On November 18, sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan will perform with Vijay Ghate (tabla) from 6 p.m. On December 2, Rajasthani folk dance will be presented by Ismail Khan and troupe of Jodhapur. Mashqoor Ali Khan’s concert is scheduled on December 9. All these programmes will be at Town Hall. The final programme, on December 16, would be held on the University College grounds where tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain would perform at 5.30 p.m., Mr. Nayak said.
