ANANTAPUR: The CPI (M) has criticised the State Government for encouraging irregularities in the allotment of houses under Indiramma scheme. A survey conducted by the party on a section of beneficiaries of the first phase of the scheme here has revealed that a majority of them were bogus. Giving the details of the survey to newspersons, town secretary of the party V. Rambhupal said here on Thursday that 1,423 houses were sanctioned under the first phase of the scheme in the town but not even single house was constructed so far. The CPI (M) had been agitating on the issue for the last four months. Recently, the officials had decided to construct houses to 244 beneficiairies near Kakkalapalli. An inquiry into details of the beneficiaries of the houses conducted during the last three days had revealed that 11 beneficiaries had not given their present address. Only the Congress leaders could know how such beneficiaries were identified without a known address. Wrong informationSimilarly, another 100 beneficiaries were bogus as their information was also wrong. The bogus beneficiaries had given others’ address as their own without the knowledge of the original addressees. Most of such ‘beneficiaries’ were either not belonging to the municipal division concerned or to the town itself, he explained. Giving an example, he stated that in the house belonging to Chandana Steel owners in door numner 17/999-1 in third division one Ameer Basha was staying. But, one P.M. Sudhakar was allotted a house at Kakkalapalli with the same door number as his present address. In the same division one house was allotted to one C. Sunita with the address of door number 18/783-2, a portion rented out by B. Balamma to one Krishnamurthy. He alleged the role of Congress leaders for the entry of such bogus names into the list of beneficiaries. They had also sent the copies of the report to Housing Minister Botcha Satyanarayana.
