YERCAUD: The Coffee Board organised a mass contact programme with the objective to study the condition of coffee plantations and identify problems, provide guidance and transfer new technologies to the field to increase the productivity.

The programme was conducted in Thalasolai, Vazhavanthi and Kottachedu villages.

Three teams, each comprising experts, visited the plantations as a part of the programme.

Team members provided the reports of soil analysis, which was conducted by the board earlier, with recommendations on soil and nutrition management to the growers, a press release said.

They explained the importance of timely adoption of cultural practices with a scientific approach to improve the productivity.

They also asked the growers to apply fertilizers as per the soil analysis report. The methods to trace the white stem borer-affected plants and integrated pest management techniques were demonstrated for the growers, the release said.
