Adequate relief for farmers promised

Chikmagalur: Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh said on Thursday that it was the duty of the Government and the responsibility of the people to develop the State.

Speaking after unfurling the tricolour on the occasion of Rajyotsava at Subash Chandra Bose Ground here, Mr. Singh promised the farmers affected by rain that the district administration would do its best to provide adequate relief to them.

Those honoured on the occasion included T.M. Eswarappa and Halekote Ramesh (literature), A.M. Kariappa (art), Narayanaswamy and Kamalamma (social service) and H.S. Puttaswamy (journalism).

Zilla panchayat president Chandramma Manjunath, taluk panchayat president Kamalamma, Superintendent of Police Vipul Kumar and Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat Sundar Naik were present.
