Fishing boats seized

KOLLAM: Eleven mechanised fishing boats operating off the Kollam coast without the mandatory registration and fishing licence were seized by the Marine Enforcement Wing on Thursday. Registration and fishing licence from the Fisheries Department for vessels operating from the State has been made mandatory from November 1. While 90 per cent of the traditional fishing vessels complied with the order, less than 50 per cent of those from the mechanised sector complied.
