Drive to plant saplings launched

VILLUPURAM: The Lions Club of Tindivanam has launched a programme to plant saplings at water sources to strengthen bunds. Club president Pandian inaugurated the drive by planting 25 saplings near Rajan Kulam and Villavari Vaikkal recently at Tindivanam.

He said that trees would not only avert soil erosion but also induce rainfall. The club would cover all the water sources in a phased manner. Club vice-president Sankar, town secretary Karthik and secretary Chinnasamy were also present.
