Unhealthy politicking

Karnataka has become a hotbed of unprincipled politics. The ethical standards of the State’s politicians, irrespective of the party to which they belong, have reached a nadir. Barely a month ago, we witnessed the mud-slinging match between the JD (S) and the BJP. Now they have come together to share the spoils of power. If numbers alone matter, there is no future for moral standards in politics.

N. Divakar,

Mysore

The developments in Karnataka make a mockery of our political system. The inconsistent stands taken by the JD(S)-BJP combine are abject lessons in opportunism. Political morality is no less important than constitutional propriety. Parties should not be allowed to get legal sanction for unprincipled politics in the name of safeguarding democracy and the Constitution. The dissolution of the State Assembly and fresh elections are the best course of action to be followed in Karnataka.

R. Hariharan,

Auckland

The supposedly favourite State for industrial investment has turned hostile in many respects, resulting in the decline of employment generation and economic growth, thanks to the political instability since 2004.

Unethical politics has come to the fore, ruining the image of a State with which the whole world was familiar. Have the politicians ever thought of the people?

N. Sadhasiva Reddy,

Bangalore

Since the formation of a first BJP-led government in south India looks obvious and imminent, all secular groups should be alert to the moves and designs of the communal forces.

Sambi Reddy Endreddy,

Guntur
