India seeks end to Cuban blockade

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: India chose to side with countries opposing a United States economic blockade of Cuba in a vote on a United Nations resolution. The U.S. has persisted with a 45-year-old economic and trade sanctions against Cuba despite the international community’s plea against it. While 184 countries, including India, voted for the resolution, just three countries stood with the U.S., diplomatic sources here said.

This is the 16th time a resolution to end the U.S. economic and commercial blockade has been carried through at the U.N.
