SBH records win over AOC Centre

HYDERABAD: State Bank of Hyderabad recorded a 2-1 win over AOC Centre in the SAAP Premier League prize money football tournament at the Gymkhana ground here on Thursday.

SBH took lead in the third minute when Khaiser volleyed a fine cross from midfielder Akbar. In the 26th minute, Arvind converted a ‘penalty’ to level the scores for AOC. However, in the 31st minute, Johnson’s bicycle kick clinched the issue.

In another match, City College Old Boys and Shastri Club were locked in a one-all draw. Shastri Club took the lead in the 44th minute through a fine solo effort by Prithvi, but CCOB fought back well to draw parity through Mouzzam in the 59th minute.

Suri scores a hat-trick

Suri Babu’s hat-trick helped Andhra Pradesh Police score a comfortable 4-0 win over AG Andhra Pradesh in the semifinals of the GHMC Open hockey tournament here. Sanjeev was the other scorer for the winner.

In another semifinal, AOC Centre recorded a 3-0 win over Nav Bharath Club with Ramaswamy, Satyaprakash and Ramesh scoring one each.

Hindu PS wins

Hindu Public School defeated BVBKR Sanghi School 25-19, 25-15 in the Cluster VII CBSE inter-school volleyball tournament in Sanghinagar here.

St. Mary’s College (Yousufguda) defeated HAL Youth Club 52-26 in the basketball final of the second Katta Thomas Nathaniel inter-college tournaments here.

SAI scholarships

Sports Authority of India named 14 athletes for the scholarships for the year 2006-2007. The list of athletes : D. Vinay Kumar Mudiraj, P.
