Aircraft stranded on runway

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: An A-320 aircraft of Indian coming from Male was stranded on the runway of the Thiruvananthapuram international airport for 39 minutes after smoke billowed out of an engine of the aircraft while landing on Tuesday. The 159 passengers aboard the flight did not sustain any injuries in the incident and were evacuated safely, airport sources said. The smoke was noticed in the left side of the engine by the fire force personnel of the Airports Authority of India’s fire station when the flight IC 964 was approaching the runway around 3.27 p.m.

The personnel in the fire watch tower immediately alerted the Air Traffic Control who in turn alerted the commander of the aircraft.
