The change of guard was indeed filled with suspense. The Government’s decision to choose S.S.P. Yadav to lead the police force in the State has raised many an eyebrow.
Till evening on that day, P.V. Naidu was tipped to succeed M.A. Basith. A couple of newspaper had even reported that Naidu had been made the DGP. But it was not to be.
And when the outgoing DGP threw a party for his subordinates at his house, none of the IPS officers could refuse the invitation.
They had gone there, but had to leave their vehicles on the road for want of parking space.
So there was this spectacle of bullet-proof vehicles being parked on the road, leading to a chaotic situation for other road users.
